Services & Therapeutic Techniques:

Trauma-Informed Individual Yoga

I utilize private yoga practice during our session to connect mind and body to release tension from the body, often caused by anxiety, depression, and/or trauma. I am trained using a Trauma-Informed lens for Yoga-Therapy. To incorporate yoga, please inform me of this request to have an individualized plan. Yoga groups coming soon…

Play Therapy Techniques

I am trained in Play Therapy techniques such as Adlerian Play Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy. These techniques work appropriately in children 3yrs and older. I follow the Iowa Association of Play Therapy guidelines. With an Adlerian and Synergetic training background, I take into account the family dynamics as well as the child’s nervous system to best support therapeutic goals. I will incorporate parent consultations and family sessions.

Mindfulness

I incorporate mindfulness practices into therapeutic goals and session practice. This includes pranayama (breathing techniques), guided meditation, and sensory techniques to help you bring focus to the present.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), is a type of intervention that can be integrated into your therapy goals. I am an EMDR Trained Level II Therapist. Often used in the treatment of trauma, EMDR assists you by replicating the Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) that occurs during REM sleep, to better assist you in consciously processing stuck emotions and beliefs.

DBT and CBT

I incorporate DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). These are both evidenced-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and borderline personality disorder. Both will include an exploration into your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and coping skills.

Appointments are individual, unless otherwise specified. Location for sessions may either be in-office or over video, using a confidential telehealth platform. You are responsible for co-payments or co-insurance at the time of session. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide 24 hour notice.

  • The process of therapy occurs in stages. The first appointment is considered a Therapy Intake Assessment, where we will review your presenting concerns and create treatment goals. My priority the first few sessions is to build a positive, safe, and comfortable therapeutic relationship. Healing takes time and often doesn’t follow a schedule. Therefore, the length of your treatment depends upon your efforts to reach your goals. Healing also is not linear. That means that we may feel worse before we notice improvement. This is largely due to bringing up old parts and their emotions and beliefs, before being able to let go of those old systems that no longer serve us. Throughout this process, you will be learning and practicing emotional regulation techniques, in order to give you the tools to navigate old systems and building new ones. Discharging from therapy will come when you meet your therapeutic goals and feel confident in confronting life’s challenges with the tools you’ve created.
